Supporting Ukrainian Apiculture
Honoring traditions and quality while supporting the fragile bee ecosystem

Origin Story
A Landscape Shaped by Honey
Southern and central Ukraine rank among the world’s top three honey-exporting regions, shipping over 50 000 t in 2023 despite war-time logistics constraints.
Villages maintain pre-industrial “wildflower pasture” apiaries where polyfloral nectar produces high-enzyme, low-moisture honey prized in EU and Middle-Eastern markets.
Shelling and displacement destroyed thousands of colonies; aid groups now supply hives, feed, and queen stock so beekeepers can start again. Export earnings fell 11 % in 2023 as prices crashed, even though volume rose, squeezing household income.
EU and U.S. buyers remain the main outlets after traditional routes east closed. Every jar of Florale Nº1 pays a premium directly to co-ops that meet organic and unheated standards, funding hive restoration, pollinator corridors, and new stainless decanters that keep enzymes alive for export quality.
Ripple Effects
- a single apiary can finance seed, fuel and schooling for an entire family.
- restored hives boost pollination for orchards and field crops, accelerating food-system recovery.
You might be wondering
Is Florale Nº1 truly raw and unfiltered?
Yes. Frames are spun below 35 °C and the honey is neither pasteurised nor micro-filtered, so natural enzymes such as diastase and glucose-oxidase stay active, preserving antibacterial and antioxidant activity.
Why does the honey sometimes crystallise, and is it still safe?
Raw honey contains more sugar than water; over time the glucose fraction separates and forms crystals. This is a sign of purity, not spoilage, and the honey remains perfectly edible. To reliquefy, warm the sealed jar gently in 40 °C water.
What is the best way to store it once opened?
Keep the jar sealed, in a dark cupboard at a steady 18 – 24 °C. Avoid refrigeration (cold accelerates crystallisation) and keep moisture out to prevent fermentation; properly stored, raw honey keeps indefinitely.
How does purchasing Florale Nº1 support Ukrainian beekeepers?
Purchase support small apiculturists rebuilding hives lost during the conflict; Their revenue fund new colonies, equipment and pollinator corridors, sustaining rural livelihoods and biodiversity in a fragile economy.
